Film: More action movie musicals

The person who made the wonderful Schwarzenegger musicals I linked to back in July has another one up. This time it’s for Terminator 2 and explores how the T-800 feels about his new role. There are some spoilers in it for those people who haven’t quite gotten around to watching one of the best action movies of all time in the almost two decades since it released:

There’s also an older one for Rambo: First Blood Part 2 that I didn’t link before because it didn’t fit the Schwarzenegger theme but is definitely worth a watch:

Film: Schwarzenegger Musicals

The relative simplicity of sharing video through YouTube, combined with the ease of embedding them, means there are all kinds of strange and fantastic things being created on the site. A lot of the time it’s difficult to comprehend how such ideas came about, and that’s true of the following two videos, musical versions of two Arnold Schwarzenegger films:

Total Recall:

Conan the Barbarian:

I’ve no idea what lead to their creation but I’m very happy that they exist.

Film: Star Wars – Han’s First Thought

What exactly went through Han Solo’s mind in Return of the Jedi when Leia told him the truth about Luke? Probably something like this:

Film: Avatar 2 Trailer

March 26, 2010 1 comment

I know the first Avatar film came in for a lot of criticism for its unoriginal story (with comparisons to Ferngully, Dances with Wolves and Pocahontas), especially considering how impressive the setting and the effects were, but this trailer for the sequel really does seem like it’s borrowing heavily from a lot of different sources:

Maybe it’s just me but a lot of it seems ever-so-slightly familiar.

Film: Prince of Persia trailer does its job

That is, it does a convincing job of looking to be an entertaining fantasy film that possibly isn’t butchering the source material:

Of course, trailers are supposed to present their films in the best possible light (that’s pretty much their entire function), but there’s nothing particularly worrying there.  The dagger and Sands of Time are in, as is the prince, and there seems to be an epic battle for the fate of the world that also happens to involve some climbing and acrobatics.  That would be faithful enough for me, especially as the Prince games do seem to go through regular reinventions, so an acrobatic prince in a Persian setting who saves a princess/the world is pretty much all it needs to have to stay true.

It doesn’t mean the film will be any good though, and I imagine most gamers are long past the point where they look at video game adaptations (or even just any film with a gaming element) with any sort of optimism.
